Royal Philatelic Society of Canada sanctioned Awards J. Doug Allen Novice Award Nova Scotia Stamp Club Award Ken C. MacDonald Postal History Award The Ken C. MacDonald Postal History Award shall be awarded for excellence in any of
the following categories: George MacKenzie Aerophilately Award He joined the Air Force in July 1949 and his love of aviation and aircraft grew. George also had a great enthusiasm for stamp collecting from an early age, but the stamp collecting "bug" bit him in 1958 and it was just natural that the aviation and stamp collecting combined. George was instrumental in starting the first stamp club at CFB Greenwood NS and also at CFB Trenton ON. His enthusiasm and dedication grew over the years and in 1983 he was approached to design a commemorative cover for the first Shearwater International Air Show. Ten years and many commemorative covers later, George was still working tirelessly for the Shearwater International Air Show until it was cancelled in 1996. His exhibits and slide shows on aviation are well known among collectors. This was his passion and his joy. This award is named in his honour as a lasting memorial. Terms of Award The exhibit must receive at least a silver award from the judges during the show in which it is exhibited. The award, consisting of a shield with an aviation motif, will be held by the winner for one year. A smaller shield or plaque will be also given to the winner as a permanent keepsake. The winner’s name and year of award will be engraved upon each. The People's Choice Award Teams consists of 5 members each with a single frame entered in the exhibition. Individual points are tallied for an overall Team score. Entry Forms, outlining the scoring system that will be used, are available at the link below, at monthly meetings or by writing to the newsletter. Dave Cooper Memorial Trophy is presented to the 5 winning members of the One-Frame Team Competition. Each individual Team member also receives a circular medallion.
